Why This Course?

All employers are required to complete a “first aid needs assessment”. This assessment should indicate the training and first provisions required by the employers in order to meet the HSE (First Aid) regulations 1981. This course is typically intended for any member of staff deemed to require a first aid qualification for work:

Designated First Aiders: Individuals appointed as designated first aiders are primary candidates for this course. These individuals will acquire in-depth first aid knowledge and skills to effectively respond to a wide range of workplace emergencies.

Health and Safety Officers: Health and safety officers and professionals can further their expertise in first aid through this comprehensive training, which enables them to integrate first aid protocols into overall workplace safety plans.

Workplace Safety Teams: Members of workplace safety teams responsible for emergency response planning, risk assessment, and safety protocol development can gain valuable insights and skills to ensure a safer work environment.

High-Risk Industries: Industries known for elevated risks, such as construction, manufacturing, and chemical processing, should prioritize this training for their employees, particularly those in safety-critical roles.

Medium to Large Workforce: Larger organisations with medium to large workforce may require multiple trained first aiders to ensure comprehensive coverage during emergencies.

Multi-Site Operations: Companies operating across multiple sites or locations should ensure that each site has access to appropriately trained first aiders and provisions.

Compliance with HSE guidelines and legal requirements is essential when determining who should complete the full First Aid at Work 18-hour instructor-led training course. Employers must conduct thorough risk assessments, consult with employees and their representatives, and ensure that the chosen level of training aligns with the specific risks present in their workplaces.
